Hi! I’m Kieron Smith.
I make easy, high protein vegan recipes, both high and low calories, that aim to have over 30g of protein per meal!
I decided to go vegan in 2018 after being a vegetarian for the first 22 years of my life. One of my biggest concerns was how going vegan would affect my ability to eat enough protein and the get the right nutrients to match my fitness and performance goals; which were to build muscle and strength, and excel at kickboxing.
I now aim to create vegan recipes that will help you achieve your goals, hitting the right nutrients and protein amounts to adequately fuel your goals and performance, while not taking ages to make (hence the lazy in Lazy Vegan Muscle)

About Kieron

Here’s some facts about me:
- I went vegan in 2018 after being vegetarian for the first 22 years of my life. The hardest part for me was definitely giving up cheese and chocolate, but it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made for my health and fitness.
- I’m a big reader and usually get through around 25 books a year. Right now, I’m reading Beartown and highly recommend it.
- Over the years I’ve been into all sorts of sports, from 11- and 5-a-side football to kickboxing, where I earned a purple belt. I’ve run a half-marathon, train regularly in the gym to build muscle, and hold a blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. I’m currently training for another half-marathon while maintaining strength and muscle through a high-protein vegan diet.
- I live in Chester with my partner, Hannah, and if you’re ever nearby, I recommend checking out Shrub, one of my favourite vegan restaurants.
- I grew up in the Welsh coastal town of Aberystwyth and can still speak a bit of Welsh. I also hold a Master’s degree in Nutritional Therapy and I’m a qualified personal trainer.
- Before starting Lazy Vegan Muscle, I worked as an online fitness coach for over four years, helping hundreds of clients build muscle, lose body fat, and perform better in their sports with smart, plant-based nutrition.
- These days my day job is in project management within the NHS, but my passion remains helping people fuel their goals through simple, high-protein vegan meals.
Why I started Lazy Vegan Muscle
When I first went vegan, I thought I was eating healthy. My cupboards were full of tofu, lentils and nut butter, but I felt tired, bloated and wasn’t making much progress in the gym. I couldn’t work out what I was doing wrong.
I also struggled to make genuinely high-protein vegan meals. So many recipes online claimed to be high in protein but only had around 15 to 20 grams per meal. I wanted meals that actually helped me build muscle and recover properly.
Most of the people around me didn’t follow a vegan diet, so I had to figure it out on my own. I wanted to build muscle, feel strong and prove that a vegan lifestyle could support that. But most of the advice online was confusing, unrealistic, or aimed at people who had hours every day to spend cooking and tracking food.
That’s why I started Lazy Vegan Muscle. I wanted a place that made things simple for busy people who still care about their health and fitness. Nothing extreme, just straightforward, high-protein vegan meals that taste good, hit over 30 grams of protein, and actually fit into real life.
I created this site for people who want to look and feel their best on a vegan diet, without overcomplicating things or giving up their social life.
